I write about the Maldivian economy, focusing on public finances, the central bank's policies, inflation, and industry trends. I explain how economic policymakers think and act and how their decisions impact people's lives.
I'm fascinated by economics, but I believe economic models are only valuable if they reflect real-world situations. I love digging into data and research to uncover stories that matter. I've been reporting on the Maldivian economy for over a decade.
I started my career in 2010, covering the new tax regime introduced by President Mohamed Nasheed for Sun Online. I also reported on the central bank's decision to change the dollar exchange rate band and its impact on the Rufiyaa. Later, I wrote for Haveeru Newspaper and Avas Online.
I believe data can help tell better stories, so I often incorporate data and visualisations into my work. I joined Dhauru in 2021.
In addition to my work at Dhauru, I am the Secretary General of the Maldives Journalists Association. I also teach journalism and media literacy in the local community. Dhauru holds its journalists to high ethical standards.
I do not own shares in public limited companies, accept gifts, or participate in politics.
